HELP ALERT 04.12.07
The House Committee On Education, Subcommittee on Education Innovation
has scheduled a hearing for HB
2629 for April 17th at 1pm. This bill would repeal government mandated
testing for home school children.
As you know, this is the same committee that recently
heard (and appears to have rejected) several very anti home school
bills.
Legislation of this type has passed before, only to be vetoed by the
Governor. Home schoolers need to make their voices heard again in support
of this important bill.
The state plays no role in the education of home school students, and
should not be involved in testing them.
It was the overwhelming presence of home schoolers that contributed to
the apparent death of the bad bills, so if you can be at the hearing for
this good bill, you can really make a difference.
But whether you can be in Salem or not, please contact the members of
the committee, listed below, with the simple message "Schedule a
work session and vote yes on HB 2629."
