Home Education Liberty Project

HB 2629
has been introduced in the Oregon legislature.

This bill would end the requirement that home school students submit to mandatory government testing.

Bills of this nature have been introduced in the past.

In 2003, a bill of this type passed both houses and was vetoed by Governor Kulongoski.

Given the current climate, this bill faces an awesome uphill climb, but it would be worthwhile for homeschoolers to contact their reps and urge them to support it. You don't need a lengthy note. Just say you support home school freedom and HB 2629.

Legislators can be contacted here .
Your Oregon legislators will be the 4th and 5th names listed.
This bill will no doubt be referred to House Education.

UPDATE :
AS OF 04.12.07 THIS BILL HAS GONE TO THE INNOVATION SUBCOMMITTEE. SEE  THIS ALERT.
